About the Rare Earths Oxides' Index
Improving life standards is and has always been the purpose of developing new technologies. Accordingly, materials with new properties are needed to meet the challenges of this technological development.
Rare Earth Elements are the ingredients that will fuel these new technologies. With their electronic structures, they enable important future applications in the laser, glass and superconductors technology to name a few. Ceramics engineering, coating, paint industry, cement additive, data storage, high tech etc... are other branches in which rare earth elements are to play a major role in the future.
Consequently Crystal Int. Consultants Ltd. appropriately set up an index, called REO-Index, which is secured physically with rare earth oxides. We developed this index as a basket consisting of the eight most important rare earth oxides in an optimal weighting. These oxides are also tradable like single metals on the global market.
China is the main producer with nearly 90% of the global production. One can barely imagine how prices will react when supply from the Chinese market is disrupted after demand is further exceeding.
